About Us

What we Do

Playin’ With Fire strives to help teens live with integrity both online and off.  Currently we are finishing up our short video, “Confessions of a Fireater”, in an effort to open up discussion on Teen Tech + Integrity issues.  Using the story of a fireater that gets burned as well as fire themed imagery Playin’ With Fire hopes to help teens get to the heart of the issue and examine thier own ’story’ in regards to issues of integrity.

Playin’ With Fire is actually the second half of project aimed at helping parents and teens understand each other better through technology.  The first half of this project, No Parent Left Behind .net,  was launched in December 2008 to help parents understand the tech that thier teens are using in a simple and effective way.  Please take a look at www.nplb.net for more details.

Mark Schreiber, the Fireater, also enjoys speaking on tech topics to parents, teachers, and teens.  For more information on Mark or speaking events please see the resource section.

Why We Do It

Our purpose huh? Good question.

Basically we have a huge heart for teens, parents, and technology.  And here’s why.

  • Simply put, there is a big problem on the Internet and with tech in general, especially when it comes to teens’ use.
  • We want to remedy that by helping teens get to the heart of the issues regarding their online choices (pornography, acting differently online than off, bullying, posting pictures that degrade themselves, engaging in risky behavior online).

Why now?

  • Becuase kids are growing up in a new world of technology that if used imperoperly could cause harm to themselves or others.
  • And parents are mostly out-of-touch with what teens are doing online (thus NPLB.net)

Mark Schreiber started Playin’ With Fire as a way to highlight these imbalances and to try to help remedy them through education of parents and teens on tech issues.
